Police seek help identifying shoplifting suspects who assaulted security officer | StarNewsOnline.com | Star News | Wilmington, NC.
Police are asking for help identifying several people who they say beat a Walmart employee who tried to stop the suspects from shoplifting.
The assault occurred at 3:23 p.m. May 25 at the Walmart on Sigmon Road, according to a statement from Lucy Crockett, spokeswoman for the Wilmington Police Department.
Two of the store's loss prevention officers, a 31-year-old and a 56-year-old, tried to stop four people who they suspected of shoplifting. Someone in the group punched and kicked the younger Walmart employee so hard that it injured his eardrum, according to the statement from police.
Months later, the employee still has not returned to work.
Police ask anyone who can identify the suspects to call Detective Paul Verzaal at 343-3921.
Has anyone asked why these store loss and prevention fools try to apprehend any one in the first place? What sort of training do they have? What is one of these shoplifters pulls a gun? People are crazy no a day, is a $15 DVD really worth getting killed over?
